UITSTALLING Art Gallery took part in Art Cologne 2025 in Booth C204, and presented a focused selection of works by Ado Hamelryck. Situated between post-war and contemporary art, Hamelryck's practice embodies a lifelong search for "all colors of black". Through rhythmic, meditative gestures, he created paintings, reliefs, and sculptures that balance discipline and intuition, repetition and silence. His work radiates both material intensity and spiritual restraint, grounded in purity, presence, and the essence of image itself.
ADO HAMELRYCK (1941-2024) studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels and the Higher Institute for Fine Arts in Antwerp. From 1967 onwards, he lived and worked in Genk, where he taught generations of painters and designers at SHIVKV. Over six decades, he developed a distinct visual language rooted in repetition, meditation, and restraint, positioning him as a singular voice withing Belgian post-war abstraction.
