Robert Dandarov, born in 1959 in Strumica, Republic of Macedonia, is a distinguished artist currently residing and working in Brooklyn, New York. His artistic journey began with formal education at the School of Applied Arts in Macedonia. He further honed his skills through scholarships at the American Academy of Art in Chicago in 1976 and the National Academy of Design in New York City in 1981. Dandarov also undertook specialized studies in fresco painting at the Workshop of Antonio Romano in New York, deepening his understanding of traditional techniques.
Throughout his prolific career, Dandarov has actively participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions across the United States and Europe, including notable cities such as Cologne, Regensburg, Brugge, Munich, and Stuttgart. His commitment to art extends beyond creation; from 1999 to 2001, he served as an artist in residence and painting teacher at Altos de Chavon/The School of Design in the Dominican Republic, an institution affiliated with Parsons School of Design in New York City. In 2001, he spent a year in Antwerp, Belgium, immersing himself in the techniques of 17th-century Flemish painters, a period that significantly influenced a series of works he later exhibited at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Macedonia in 2002.
